Kim Delaney was an American actress. The actress is best known because of her part as detective Diane Russell, in the ABC show NYPD Blue. For this she won the Emmy Award. Her most well-known role is her role in All My Children Philly CSI: Miami, Army Wives. As the sole daughter to a senior executive of the United Auto Workers and a household worker, Delaney was raised with four brothers. As a child she longed to be an official in the courtroom. After graduating from high school and moving to New York in the 1980s and began to model, she was hooked. Her first role as an actor came as a young girl in the 1981 soap opera All My Children. The career of Delaney has been filled with numerous television films and dramas. Similar to her profession, her personal life hasn't been a success or happy one. In the past, this gifted actress was struggling to overcome addiction to alcohol, and was married twice only to that failed. In 2005, she lost custody of her sole son.
